Connected with the official Sony SCARt lead, and firstly, the screen is very narrow - even when i set it to full screen, there are black bars top and bottom. Also - the screen seems to be about an inch too far to the left, as everything seems off centre, and there is a big black line down the left hand side of the screen.
Now - when I play a DVD, everything's fine - and some PS 2 games are ok, the line goes away - but othrs, like GT 3, the line is still there - I have to go in to the Options and reposition the screen as far left as I can.
Anyone else having this issue? Is my PS 2 faulty??
> Even so - anyone got their number so I can try?
Not sure what it is, but it will be in your manual somewhere. or in any games manual.
The other problem with your RGB Scart cable is natural. Every TV is set to move the picture to the left when it is displaying an RGB picture in proper RGB mode. Unless you know how to get into your TVs manufacturer setting menu, you cannot change this. I have a Hitachi Widescreen TV and was able to fix this problem no bother, but the RGB output will give you a black line down the side. The reason this doesn't appear on the DVD playback is the DVD player has it's own output config in the PS2, and the picture is stretched to avoid the black band.
As for having to move the screen with games, it's a simple solution to just move the screen and save the stting. For GT3 in particular make sure you don;t have it set to the wrong setting (i.e. no point in having 16:9 in the options with a standard TV). Companies can't auto centre games to fit TV screens because every model of TV is different, a manual screen position setting is the easiest way around this, and you should only have to do it once then save the setting.
has anyone else encountered this problem? if not, then I'm beginning to suspect my PS 2 is faulty - can anyone tell me if they've seen this before, and if not, I'll call Sony this afternoon.
