The movies on the disc are pretty rubbish but still it gives you a look at the likes of 1080 and f zero. I say keep em coming...
just seemed a bit pointless... thats all.
As for the VIP codes. I would imagine that it purely the promotion side of Nintendo rather than the development side. The bonus disk would need more hands on and it would need to be handled by the development team. The VIP codes will be handled by a totally different area of Nintendo and thats why it doesn't really take up anytime from the development of a game.
And i've never watched/played either of them.

I disagree. Although i agree the SNES version is still amazing, I've been playing the 64 version for the last couple of weeks with my bro and its still great fun. Boring on your own but great doing mario grand prix two player.
Mario 128 with Mario 64
F-Zero GX with F-Zero X
That would rule muchly muchly. Too bad it didn't / won't happen.
I would much rather have a bonus disk with movies and free games on than a few crappy stars that i can trade in for a screensaver!
stop trying to find fault alastair!
I played Mari Kart a few months a go and the game looked and played dated. It was strange because the original Snez Mario Kart is still highly enjoyable and fun. The 64 version was very good at the time (and still is in many respects) however unlike some titles it has aged a little too quickly and it won't be a great surprise/shock if they do plan a bundle with Double Dash.
I would much rather Nintendo pooled resources into new ideas and originality rather than concentrating on odd bonus disk here and there.
