If a statue is made and stands strong for 1460 years, how old is it?

(a year being 365 days)

I am afraid you are mistaken:

A year is the time taken to go around the sun once. This time is about 365.25 days. Therefore every 4th year we have 366 days, and all the rest of the years we have 356 days.

Therefore in 4 years the earth will go round the sun 4 times, meaning it IS 4 year! (on 4 years and 1 day)! That is the whole point of using leap years!

HOWEVER, the Earth DOES NOT take 356.25 days to go around the sun... the amount is slightly less than this. Therefore it appears that we are adding too much every time we have a leap year...

To combat this, there are NO leap years on centuries, EXCEPT when the century is a multiple of 400 (eg 2000).

Basically, the whole point of a year is that it is the time needed for the Earth to go around the sun once, and this has been made exact by leap years!

So the answer is, infact, 1460 years!

Actually what it should have been is this :-)

It's the year 2460

A statue has stood since the year 1000

If a year is 365 days, how many years has it stood?

and there you go, the answer would be 1461 years and Strafex I don't know what your on about but you wrong :-D

and you could still say well that depends, it could be made on Jan 1st or Dec 31st which would effect it's age but who here actually gives a ......

:-D

You cant say because you dont say what date it is!

How long the statue stands strong has no effect on its age!

Over 1460 years you get 365 extra days so technically it'll be 1461
> years old.

wow wasn't that cooooooool :-)

You can't say it was standing for 1460 years and then say it was actually 1461 just because of the leap year. Originally you would have had to say it stood for 1461 days which means all this is pointless.

yes but i said a year is 365 days :-)

you could catch me out where i said it's been standing for 1460 years because if a year is 365 days then i lied about it being a year younger, i should have said a year as we know it,If your with me.

I think up some weird stuff don't I :-D

It's still 1460 years, even if it's 1461 x 365 days.

Nice try.

A year is made up of 365 days but every 4 years we have a leap year with one extra day.
Over 1460 years you get 365 extra days so technically it'll be 1461 years old.
