Unless BT decide to stop doing broadband where you live. And BY. And NTL. Then you'd have to.
Once you get broadband there's no turning back.
If you are going to stick with a modem then I would suggest Freeola. I used to get get 50K regularly. Once I even got the holy grail of 56K.
