Yeah, that was kinda sad - i just hope his workmates saw it too. There`s a point of no return for some people and he passed it years ago! A trekkie i might be, but obsessive to the point of living a lie...? nope, not me.

Well is wasn`t just about the two whales now, was it..?! The story dealt with the issues of extinction, the need to know what it means to be human (Spocks story arc) and most importantly - learning to live with the consequences of our actions (the wiping out of lifeforms affecting our future, and breaking the rules because the needs of the one outweighed the needs of the many).
Yes, it does have a strong eco-theme, but the light comedy patches help it from disappearing down a wormhole, and made it more accessible to a non-trek audience.
