I tend to stay away from Half-Life aswell, in fact I only have it installed for the great multiplayer mods you can get for it.

Gah, not again. It's not a mod for CS it's a mod for Half-life, as is Natural Selection, Firearms and Team Fortress. Sorry to be a bit pedantic but you'll give people the impression you need CS to play mods like Day of Defeat when you actually need Half-Life.
The new planes are rubbish, they fly at such a speed that it's damn near impossible to shoot them down and even more difficult to fly the things. Plus you've got the new jetpack which isn't that bad itself, but now you get mongs camping the jetpack spawn point waiting for the jetpacks to spawn back in, which doesn't help the rest of the team who are trying to win the map.
I thought Road to Rome was a good expansion but I;d stay away from Secret Weapons after playing the demo. Go with what Scopey said, Desert Combat is a much better offering.
