Downloaded the demo last night...what am I missing?
It's exactly the same as the other C&C games, just better graphics no?
Get loads of troops, swarm the base, the end.

Is there something I'm not seeing?

i have to disagree...if you download some videos of some of the top players in wc3 you'll see it's just dependent on the skill of the player. A skillfull player can easily beat a big rush with few units. warcraft 3 is one of the best rts i've played

I feel that Yuri added an unbalance. Tank that steal units are too much.

red alert 2 is the best rts game in my view, even now when it is looking old and crusty, it is just so well balanced and well thought out. yuri's revenge was the icing on tha cake.

they should release another red alert instead of this namby pamby 3D stuff.

and that's my two cents

I've always thought C&C was/is massively overrated.

I could have bought Command and Conquer or Age of Empires: Age of Kings, and I pick AOE so I think I made the right choice :)

Generals does have an appeal I'll admit, only on the 3rd USA campaign mission.

I have Rise Of Nations installed but havent played it at all really. I have been playing Generals yesterday and today. Sometimes it can get really frustrating especially when your just starting trying to get a good supply line to get cash and the AI just keeps coming at you. Had a 2 hour battle being the GLA fighting the USA on hard. Had so many Stinger sites that helicopters and planes just blow up with out touching anything.

Warcraft 3 still lets you rush though, that's all multiplayer games are. I like Rise because if you rush, you just get taken down by the AI using a decent strategy, plus the sheer variety of units is great, along with all the upgrades for them.

Yep, fantastic game.
Had Shogun, Cossacks, Age of Empires and a whole buncha others but grew weary of them.
Now had my fill of FPS and want to go back to some braingaming
