As the world has become more advanced, children have adapted to their surroundings, turning them into spoilt children. If books where still as popular as they were 50 years ago, there would be no greed or fighting or competition between groups and individuals.
As a teenager I tend to never read a book, only at school. I have been sucked into the world of action movies. If I were offered a book or an action movie, I would quite happily take the action movie without even thinking about the title of the book.
I think if books were introduced to youngsters at an early age and they were told to stick with the books, it would become a regular thing for them and they will grow up reading and teaching themselves at the same time.
The point I'm trying to make is that it is impossible for children of this generation to read a book of there own good will, and this will never change because the way that the world is becoming more advanced.
I'm reading The Krackan Wakes by John Wydham. It's not a patch on The Day Of The Triffids.
I'd recommend the book of The Beach, by Alex Garland. Thats the only book thats kept me up until 2 on a school night.

Alright then, I'll let you off cause I'm in a good mood :)
Books I bought today (I've added to the list since last mentioned) - Douglas Addams' latest book and Microserfs, Willaim Goldman's Adventures in the Screentrade, Tony Hawks Round Ireland with a Fridge and Raging Bulls, Easy Riders, by someone whos name escapes me.
I like buying my books in bulk.
"...looks like we got ourselves a reader..."
Good topic, maybe we should have a topic for the books people are currently reading or recommend although I'm not sure how popular it would be. Books you have to read in school probably won't count though as all the books I had to read at school were rubbish.
Anyway, I enjoy reading a good book. I enjoy playing games too. I enjoy the best of both worlds.
