They just do a search for certain words in the item descriptions and when they turn up they take your auction off the site. I had the same happen to me when I sold my Dreamcast.
Anyway, why's everyone so bothered about him selling his Gamecube?
If he wants to missout on the games then that's up to him. I'd say though that unless you're getting Xbox LIve, IMO the Xbox's future is looking pretty bleak.

Put Freeloader into the search on eBay, there is plenty more on. As for upgraded Xbox consoles and such, tons of them.

Considering e'll be getting Mario Kart, F-Zero, Pikmin 2 & Kirby's Air Ride this year, I don't really care if Final Fantasy slips. Plus, even if it is going to be a big seller, Metal Gear Solid doesn't interest me in the slightest, seeing as all the previous installments weren't to my taste.

Er lets see, you've already got Final Fantasy slipping off into 1st quarter 2004, and MGS to that (Harvest Moon is irrelevant as it is not going to sell consoles by itself) and the loss of those two puts rather a big dent in the lineup IMO.
