"GT3 Cheque Rip Off"

Being a dedicated PS2 fan and pre-ordering GT3 back when SR firsted started selling PS2 games(Last September). After 10 months of having GT2000(Now Known as GT3) on pre-order I finally got it. Then got a letter saying that I could get £10 back from the purchase price of GT3. Great I thought GT3 for £24.99. So I sent the letter back with my reciept that of course said GT2000(Gran Turismo) which had the date of order e.t.c.

Well looks like Sony doesnt think that having the reciept for GT2000 is vaild, even though I had pre-ordered it well before release date. They sent me a letter saying that the reciept they recieved wasnt for GT3 and they want me to send the proper reciept. You would think that Sony would know that the game had changed its name. They could have even checked with SR as the code was the same.

So I dont know whether to ring up and tell them this or just to leave it. Maybe I could try to blag a free game out of it as well.

mow i know what happend to GT2000, i got it! before i thought it was already out as a separate game on ps2 and got discontinued

You should sya to sony in a nice polite letter that there acting stupid it's only a ten pound off coupon i mean whats ten quid but if it was me i would want my ten quid off as well so you tell them to give you ten pounds

Yeah, I would have thought so, but to be fair, I don't really care, I just saw a few people explaining why they thought people were entitled to it, but obviously not everyone was, I might give them a phone, but it isn't absolutely necessery.

Why dont you ring up sony, wont they know if you have got one or not. They have a serial number on the back of PS2's so they could surely find out if you should get one or not.

Shouldn't matter as far as I'm aware - if you pre-ordered your PS2, you should have received the offer, as far as I'm aware.

It is possible that only certain people received the offer, but exactly how Sony would determine who got it and who didn't is anyone's guess!

I suppose, however unlikely it may be, that yours simply got lost in the post... :-)

Yep, I pre-ordered the day the forms came out, and I pre-ordered the GT3 + wheel pack. I bought the PS2 from Game, and the wheel pack from SR, could that be whats wrong??

So you pre-ordered a stand-alone PS2.

And you ordered the GT3 game/wheel pack?

There are a few packs/deals, I think:

1. PS2 + GT3
2. GT3 + wheel
3. PS2 + GT3 + wheel


So you pre-ordered PS2 for launch, then pre-ordered pack 2 from the above? And haven't had the £10 offer?

If that's the case, it's odd. Were you among the first people to pre-order - i.e. did you get up early and pre-order from the first batch of forms on Thursday 7th September 2000?

Most people here seem to have received the offer - maybe it was only those in the first batch? I dunno!

But I did pre-order my PS2 on Sony's official scheme, so......

The offer was for people who pre-ordered their PS2 on Sony's official scheme prior to launch. It has nothing to do with pre-ordering GT3.

The GT3 pack was released at £289, £10 less than the initial PS2 price. Hence Sony decided to be nice and 'refund' £10 to those who pre-ordered their PS2. (Let's face it, many people decided to pre-order a PS2 based simply on the early demos of GT3.)

The GT3 pack and GT3 wheel pack have, I suppose, effectively already had the £10 taken off of the overall price.

So it was only for people who ordered GT3 before the PS2 launched, not just anyone who pre-ordered a PS2, then pre-ordered GT3 when a launch date was anounced??
