Microsoft, that word brings with it so many feelings, hatred, anger, frustration. How many of us have had our PC's crash at the most innapropriate times, due mainly to badly coded Microsoft products. Too many Im afraid! :-(

Yet despite the minor flaws Microsoft software is becomming more stable. I've often wondered why Microsoft produce flawed products, after a few moments of deep thought I came to the simple conclusion... its because theyre a software company with a monopoly. Think about it, Mac OS X is stable and reliable. The same is true of many other operating systems such as Workbench on the Amiga, or even the Acorns OS. The reason these are so reliable is because the software sells the hardware. If the Mac OS was as unreliable as Windows then no Imacs would sell, even if they do look pretty! This is why I welcome Microsofts arrival into the world of hardware.

The first step for Microsoft is the Xbox which is looking like it will be an enormous success, at least in the US. The Xbox is the just the start for Microsoft, its not only going to get it into the games industry but will give it a good reputation as a hardware manufacturer. Eventually Microsoft will produce the Xbox 2, and perhaps even a home PC box.

Perhaps this will mean that Microsoft is changing its spots, and will finally give us what we want, a operating system that is stable! In the mean time we can all look forward to great games on the Xbox while Microsofts tests the waters of the Hardware market.

Its just a thought :-)

I wouldnt knock the Xbox without a reason, Im hoping that as the Xbox games are essentially PC games maybe six months down the line they will sell at PC prices. PC games are amazingly cheap just look at the number one PC game Max Payne it costs only £23.99 from Special Reserve. Compare this with the £34.99 price tag of Gran Turismo 3 on the Playstation 2.

Im hoping that the increased competition will lower game prices, however in six months if Xbox games arent priced near to their PC counterparts I will be none to pleased!

There are a load of reasons why we should be excited about the Xbox and its not just great games. The Xboxs other features such as DVD playback, internet connectivity and 10GB hard drive (which will allow you to store your own CD tracks to be used as in game music) are also exciting.

That aside, your all right the Playstation2 also has a load of great games such as TimeCrisis 2 comming its way, and the GameCube is looking like its going to be another great games machine. All in all its just a great time to be a games player.

Anyway Im off to get some medicine, Ive got the flu, and aint feeling great...hence Im up at this rediculous time! :-(

Me too. If it was a choice, it would be GameCube every time for me.

However, if I was GIVEN a GameCube, I'd just sell it to finance my PS2 collection. Really.
