Since then he has come a long way (and some people might agree and others might not)he has done some decent tunes and is starting to get a repuation to be a bit of a prev in a way after all of this songs seem to have something to do with the 'ladies' involved in them.
But the point of this topic is what really does he do towards this great success? 'It wasn't me' sung mainly be Rik Roy and Shaggy having a small part of saying the long words of 'It wasn't me' and adding something to the chorus that none of us could understand anyway. Then there was 'Angel' which again had Rik Roy doing more then half the work.
So I am wondering if the pay was fairly split out? Was Rik Roy awarded more or less then the man who took all the credit for it? His name is the name that sold the singles and his name was the name on front of all the cd's and tapes. But what really had he done that was so special?
And from this topic it adds too the point of famous people. When acting in a film do they feel embarrassed by who they star as, and I don't mean being embarrassed by what they have to do. But being embarrassed by the person they star as, does it make them think what they could have done in their lives?
I am not saying an actor or actress is not a good job, Christ look at just how much they get paid, but think how they are donating to society? Do they donate to charities? Do they help people as part of their jobs? Do they actually do anything that mankind requires?
If you saw a Dr walking along the street would you ask for his autograph? I doubt it but these are the people that make the difference in life and that will always be the case. Thanks for reading and I'm sorry I went off topic, this wasn't carefully thought out as you might have assumed.
and who think they actually have a chance with him..

YOU LIKE POP MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But really Shaggys more pop now. Go listen to Steps ;-)
Rick Rock sang Shaggy's words, to the tune Shaggy dictated over a track Shaggy wrote and produced. While I in no way like the result, lets lay the blame in the right place - right at Shaggy's feet.
On a separate note, Mystique, how can you write off such a unbelievably large chunk of music? Naive comes to mind... “Rap” covers so many different genres and breeds of music its like saying “I don’t like music with guitars in them”. Rapping is just a way of presenting the vocals, there’s an infinite breadth of music that it can be over the top of.

I'd heard of him before "It wasnt me". I used to quite enjoy the likes of "Boombastic" and many more so when he relaunched his career I was quite happy.
"It Wasnt Me" was a good song even if Shaggy didn't provide 50% of the duet. The fact is Shaggy is sharing his success with some unknown vocalists who are rather good and thus as a result launching their careers which I thinks pretty good.
However I must say after "It Wasn't me" his songs are getting very bad. "Angel" uses the same music as an older song (listen to Charlies Angels in the cabin boat where Tom Green is singing).
So don't be so harsh on Shaggy. He's using his name to launch people's solo careers lets face it would you have bought "It Wasn't me" without Shaggy in it? Probably not. Because he was so famous he managed to sell the music (it's his comeback song we have to hear it!). Look at Craig David - his solo career was launched by the Artful Dodger and I'm sure now we have heard Rikrovs (whatever his name is) voice we will go out and listen to any new songs he makes. My point is even if he didn't get as much money from the sales as Shaggy he got something much more important - a boost in his career from which he could make his own album and songs. So I'd like to disagree and say Shaggy (and many other people) do help the society in some way by helping launch people's careers with their name.
Hey if I was singing a duet with Jennifer Lopez (oh please let that happen one day) my singing careers pretty much launched and I can expect to make millions..
So don't be so harsh on Shaggy.
I'm not a big music fan, but I like what I like, and I don't like his music. If he claims to be a solo artist, why doesn't he do a Solo song to prove if he can sing well?!
