Sony's Major Christmas game:- GT4
Microsoft's major Christmas game:- Project Gotham Racing 2
Ohhhhh thrilling.
Burnout 2 is about as serious as I go.
I don't count F-Zero, because its all fututristic, and therefore far more fun because you don't have to look at boring tracksides or cities as you go really rather fast. And it looks incredible.

Personally I think F Zero GX could do a hell of a lot for Nintendo this Christmas.

But still always presented a challenge...
It rewarded skill, that makes a classic.
Unless someone gets a ghost.
Oh the hours of fun we had. I've got a record of like 35 seconds for that level too. Not the fastest but very fast.
Sure, the computer controlled characters cheated an awful lot in single player, but at least it kept everything competitve and didn't leave you racing yourself for the duration of most courses. (Also, did anyone notice that on Kalimari Desert you could pull away from the computers, and on some occasions, lap them?)
Granted, the single player's longevity was questionable, but anything regarding shortage of longevity is subsequently quashed when the multiplayer area of the game is viewed in full flow. In fact, me and my mates STILL play Mario Kart 64 - about once a week, I'd say. It's second only to Goldeneye on the greatest ever multiplayer games list.
Although a little slow compared to the likes of F-Zero X, Mario Kart 64 is still one of the best racing titles around, and his been ever since its release.
