OKay, although it has nothing too do with the FOG.....hang on a second...it sort of does in a way. Anyways back to the subject. I am wondering where you lot would advise me too try and get a work placement for my work experience.

Bear in mind that my chosen proffesion is a Computer Programmer, where do you think I should try to get into. I mean I haven't got a clue where to start as I tend to be overly ambitious.

I am thinking of learning C++ , but have been unable to find a C++ compiler for windows and was alos wondering where I would be able to find one. Any help will be greatly recieved. Learning C++ should be agood place to start as it will at least give me some experience in programming.

Oh and if your wondering how this affects the FOG, you just wait till my first game comes out :P

Yeah I get that, but I am sure that getting a good placement will at least give me a chance to see what the buisness is actually like....and even if I can't get into the type of place I want I have been offered many good placements in inner london with my Tutors friends where they work. Just be good too see the world of work in action if that doesn't sound too crazy.

This is classic. I remember in Amiga and PC magazines where reasers write in to ask whether to strart programming in BASIC or C.

"I don't know if I should go with BASIC's simplicity, or C's power" was the common argument. It's very boring to hear this time and time again. Go for BASIC, C++ and all the others, by the way. It is possible.

Visual C++ is a good idea. DJGPP is free, but FM was having problems with it. Worth a try, perhaps.

Go buy some books.
