Hi,
I am thinking for my Birthday of buying a getdotted/freeola domain name. I wanted a few facts about the service.
Do you have to have Freeola as your default ISP.
How much are they.
Can you build forums/chatrooms with it.
Is the fee monthly or yearly.
what tools do you have.
And do you have to you's a what you see is what you get FTP.
Any help i would be grateful for.

Buy it soon then - a small price rise on .co.uk is imminent.

Freeola is likely to be offering an 0800 dail-up service in the very near future, paid by monthly subscription.

Domains from Get Dotted are excellent value and although we would prefer you to connect to the internet via Freeola all the time, you really only need to do so when you are uploading.

Note that "free unlimited hosting" refers to web space and sites which are offering streaming data are not allowed as they would breach the bandwidth and data transfer restrictions.

You need to connect to Freeola to upload, so yes.

Freeola is a standard local rate phone call. Apart from that, it's

Forums? Definitely. Chatrooms? Possibly. Most servers don't like it

The price quoted on GetDotted.com is for 2 years

None. You need to know HTML to make a website. Access is via

Er, not sure I get your drift. There is no online WYSIWYG editor, just FTP access. FTP is a little wierd. You have to put everything apart from CGI perl scripts into the /htdocs directory. CGI perl scripts go in /cgi-shl but the server path is /cgi-bin . For your purposes though, you don't need to worry about that. If you are using CGI though, full instructions are provided.
