Ah, the rewards of being in a class of fat baggers for athletics.

Me > them for 1500.

I came third (there were three fit lads), and the fat ones trailed minutes behind.

The only decent thing about athletics was when we had sports day. I did the 1500m because it was an easy point for the team and got me out of classes in the morning. After we had finished, we were supposed to go back to lessons. We never did and just wandered about the field talking and relaxing. It was the only event I ever entered, although I had to subsitute for someone in the 800m one year.

Hehe, yea i remember back in year 5 for some reason our P.E lessons consisted of Morris Dancing.

Don't think our teachers cared about athletics that much, they much preferred to coach tennis, football and basketball

It seems I had a slightly better P.E. teacher than you did. Our lessons were slightly more structured although I'd rather have done more than 1 lesson of football instead of endless lessons of barn dancing and orienteering.

We had to run a preset course in under 20 mins or else we'd have to go round another time. That was athletics for us.

Not sure, i wasn't taught anything about sprinting, it was basically *alright lads 3 laps round the track* and that was our athletic lessons. Just something i did because i found it did give me an extra boost though also made me look quite silly at the time :-D

Aren't you supposed to run on your toes for sprinting? That's what I was taught I think. My mate was very flat footed and just didn't have any speed of movement. It's probably just laziness as he doesn't use his brain either.

I had a funny one to i think, or at least i was told i had one. Basically i just run on my toes not my feet, found it helps with sprinting and getting a little bit more pace

He wasn't fat, which was funny because all he ate was junk. He had a wierd running style and it made him slower than a lot of people, even some of the fatter ones.
