What really is the most underrated game of all time? Taht is a big question (well to me it is) in the world of gaming. What really stops a great game from being bought?

Is it it's rubbish looking gameplay that has been talked about but is not really (but has been made out to be) that bad?

Is it a character is hated by some people that would normally go out and buy a game like this?

Are the graphics looking not up to scratch but are hiding a really good game behind them?

My thoughts on the most underrated game are that if you like the look of a game then rent it first to see if it has the gameplay you are expecting and if it doesn't then don't buy it?

But it could be the other way round. If you don't think the graphics are good in a game it can put you off .

My prime example of a game being underrated on any format is F-Zero-X. It is a great game that is still one in my opinion but was underrated right from the start. No hype was made, the magazines didn't care much and it is the best racer on the n64 (also in my opinion). I never would actually have known about it unless i got it for a £5er which i did and really liked it.

It is so underrated that all my friends after playing it went out and got it. Do they all have a bad taste in games or is this really an underrated game?

Now most of you won't even know about this game as nobody really thinks anything of it but to all those people that have it i would like to ask if they like it?

Has anyone else got a game that they think is underrated and if they do could they reply in this topic?

Anyway thanks 4 reading, Afro.

Jet set radio, deffinitly. It got great reviews but sold in poor numbers. Amazing game which I could play forever (prob), it has so muh style and originalty. Sadly tho only approx 83 people have played it.

But all that will change when the sequal is released on Xbox. Oh yes, people will know the game that is jet set radio...

Oh I also think Soul Reaver deserved to do better.

they did under rate it at first. it was only about a year or so after it came out that it started getting all the attention that it deserved. so that is why they hyped us up for the gba version which i thought was too over rated.

Banjo-tooie. Fantastic game but the masses went with Cokers BFD at the time.

dum de dum.

Out of the ones I've played it has to be Starfighter 3000 (i think thats what it was called.

I used to have this game on my acorn computer (many a year ago).

You got a little ship, and had to pick things up, destroy buildings, and dock with your mothership.

Some levels there were bad guys with AI too!

As I've said before, I think that Final Fantasy 8 is the most underrated of any games, most people cast this Final Fantasy away because of it's highly complex storyline and the difficulty in totally understanding it all. Final Fantasy 8 is infact my most favoured game of all time, but there are so many people who have said that this game was just lacking that critical something to make it better, but in my opinion it was perfect!

I don't think F-Zero X was underrated, because if it was, I don't think N64 Magazine, NOM, and online games news sites would have paid as much attention to the Game Boy Advance version as they did.

Addiction Pinball is hardly ever mentioned, but it's a brilliant and irresistably addictive game! The Worms table is the best.

Rares plan in that was that an older audience would buy CBFD and a younger would buy Banjo. it worked ok but not that well.
