What really is the most underrated game of all time? Taht is a big question (well to me it is) in the world of gaming. What really stops a great game from being bought?
Is it it's rubbish looking gameplay that has been talked about but is not really (but has been made out to be) that bad?
Is it a character is hated by some people that would normally go out and buy a game like this?
Are the graphics looking not up to scratch but are hiding a really good game behind them?
My thoughts on the most underrated game are that if you like the look of a game then rent it first to see if it has the gameplay you are expecting and if it doesn't then don't buy it?
But it could be the other way round. If you don't think the graphics are good in a game it can put you off .
My prime example of a game being underrated on any format is F-Zero-X. It is a great game that is still one in my opinion but was underrated right from the start. No hype was made, the magazines didn't care much and it is the best racer on the n64 (also in my opinion). I never would actually have known about it unless i got it for a £5er which i did and really liked it.
It is so underrated that all my friends after playing it went out and got it. Do they all have a bad taste in games or is this really an underrated game?
Now most of you won't even know about this game as nobody really thinks anything of it but to all those people that have it i would like to ask if they like it?

hmmm... the most under-rated game, for me, must be one of the following:
NiGHTS! on the Saturn. The game that almost every mag said was the most original game since... well, since video games were invented! The game that should have saved the Saturn. Not only was it so original that it is almost impossible to describe, but it came with a 3D controller, with analogue stick and all... well before Ninty "invented" the analogue stick for hokme consoles! In fact, the pad was identical to the DC's, except it had more buttons and was more comfortable! Due to the Saturn's failure, the game was VERY undersold, and, therefore, never played and very underrated.
Well, I can't think of anything as under-rated as that... so I'll stop there... or here.

it was my quickest to sell after buying as well apart from my NBA Pro 99. i think that went in around 2 weeks.
I agree with you on that. Pokemon Stadium was the quickest game I sold after purchasing it. ALthough the interface was very polished, it was a game that showed no originality and innovation - a classic example of a game straight from the book, or so it seems when I played it.
This is a tough question, i dont know about under rated, but over rated would have to be pokemon stadium. That had a huge build up, but in the end was disappointment cunningly disguised in grey plastic.
