Yeah, well isn't it better for the games to be excellent instead of average, there was nothing special about the launch games of the Playstation2, infact in Japan (which is where the Gamecube will launch first with only three games) the Playstation2 console sold very well indeed, and all credit to Sony they sold the console super fast and made a nice profit.
*cough*
Hmmm... what about the game side? They didn't do to well did they Playstation fans, the Japanese buyers didn't really buy many games for the console, and after three weeks of the consoles launch per machine sold the game sales for Playstation2 games was near the margin of three machines to one game.
Ok, so the games didn't sell that well, and the companies who launched the quickly finished games which weren't exactly anything special didn't make any kind of profit, and I although Sony had several cockups with the console (Regional problems and Memory card faulties for example), nobody can deny that the launch of the Playstation2 was a huge success from Sonys point of view.
Coming from a Nintendo fan that was hard to cough out.
*cough cough*
Moving on, we have the GameCube, which every Sony fan seems to be wetting themselves over because it is said to only have three launch games in Japan... ok, lets think about this shall we, how many games do you want the public of Japan to buy at launch of Nintendo's console? Twenty? No... right then, because the likelyhood is that without the DVD player the public of Japan will buy the console for the games, not for old games from the N64, not for later releases (cough MGS), but for GAMING reasons. Isn't that what a console is for?
How many games did you buy at the Playstation2's launch over here? One? Two? or maybe three? Do you see. Nintendo are releasing three games only for a very valid reason. IT and THEY will sell, not just IT.
Nintendo may not have the quantity, but they most certainly have the quality.
Thanks

Coughing because I was showing some kind of respect towards Sony as they managed to trick millions into buying their console!
I only saw 3 games out for PS2 in about a month.
SXX pro. And....Some other crap.
So, yes. Nintendo might still do it. But I will wait for a few months for the price to die down and to see what x-box has to offer. Along with Nintendo, to see if they bring out good games.
Notjust the odd good one every 6 months like n64, I want to see about 10 good games in the first few months, maybe 4-5 months.
Then I may consider buying one.
Damn Nintendo.
More games will be out by then.

Yeap, well the games are very different... Racing,Beat em up and Adventure.

Four, actually.

I am very sure that there where not six good titles at the PS2's launch... if I am wrong please inform me?
I got my PS2 second hand with 6 top games - and Orphen :-)
I suppose that if the games are good it makes no difference how many there are - buying one with more than 3 games is unlikely anyway (at least with my almost non-existent income). The only problem is the choice.
Still, 3 good games is way better than 20 average ones, of which you're only going to get 4 or so of anyway.
I think
:-)
