This is SHOCKING news to me because Resident Evil is my favourite game in the world and I love it to bits but lets just think for a second, The gamecube is capable of some outstanding graphics and the so called "children's" games are nothing to do with CAPCOM so the series will be better than ever.
After seeing a trailer and screenshots of resident evil zero the remakes can only be to this AMAZING standard and may even get better, Also Having the games only set for the gamecube will mean no more being messed around buying other hardware (*cough* *cough* dreamcast) and should hopefully put an end to it all.
Here is the current console situation with the series.

Resident Evil Code Veronica X-Dreamcast- (JAPAN)
Resident Evil Survivor-PSX (PAL)

Resident Evil Gun Survivor 2-PS2
As you can see this is a complete MESS and Shinji Mikami agrees the series shouldn't be spread over this many consoles and has dissapointed many fans so now the WHOLE series will start once again completly from scratch.
I’m THRILLED at the fact that each game will get a complete 128bit AWSOME makeover and seen as I was getting a gamecube for RE:zero anyway this is a HUGE bonus. I think Capcom have made a good move and looking at the screenshots of RE:zero (link in nintendo forum) these are going to be MASSIVE.
I will however still pick up my copy of Code Veronica X and the Wesker’s Report tomorrow and even with the new versions heading to the gamecube I’ll still have my PS2 to play all the classic PSX versions, survivor 2 and the wesker’s report.
This has made me think twice about spending a fortune on the PS2 add on hardware but I think for now I'll stick with the great PS2 titles to come and buy a gamecube specifically for the new resident evil games.
I do my best to follow the series but having all the consoles the game is on is very expensive and an unbelievable hassle.
Here’s to the Fantastic Future of a classic game :D
Res
Cookie Monster, No the wesker's report is Wesker talking you through how he survived with clips from each game and is not playable.
forgot to mention THIS ALSO MEANS NO RESIDENT EVIL 4 FOR ABOUT 4/5 YEARS.
