Aside from 'The Notables', do Girls have what it takes to be gamers?!

I don't think so. They don't have that spirit in them; like the gaming, friendly, footbally spirit that most lads have.

I'm not talking about the English Hooligans in Belgium or whatever because if you loved football how could you do that to the sport?!

I'm talking about passion and drive! Lads are great mates and they rarely fall out for more than 5 minutes when they're sober.

Boys bond quite well when they're gaming, they can show their friendship through co-op mode and go head to head with one another to show off their machismo and determine who's 'better'.

And girls? They only argue with each other over whether 'the Space Channel 5 bird' should be wearing #573 Rose Pink Nail Varnish or #259 Silk Pink Nail Varnish. * And whether 'the girl' in Shenmue should have her hair in a plait or in a bun. **

I mean even Nintendo must agree.... well have you ever heard of a GameGirl?!

Girls just don't know how to have fun with gaming, the fashion tips fly out, they break nails, their eyes are so untrained, the only controller experience they get is when they snatch the remote off everyone else and demand to watch Eastenders or Survivor!

They even thrust the control about all over the place in a pathetic attempt to make the character jump further, run faster or hit harder!

Girls just can't cut it when it comes to gaming!

They ain't gotta clue!

I think we're all agreed here, No?

My Sister whoops me at Mario Kart and Mario Party. My ex girlfriend used to beat me (lol) at Diddy Kong Racing but thats probably cause the game was a piece on the crap side.

while my sister may never beat me while I play occasionaly she sneaks some wins in, and then I have to play better and keep my concentration. she is better than my brother who is ultra competitive and hates losing to her.
different people are better at certain games than others and I am sure it won't be long before before there will be a game where girls are better than boys.

I personally think that girls have the POTENTIAL to be equally good gamers as boys. The problem is they don't assert themselves enough. They tend to take being a gilr as meaning they will be ridiculed by people who know they play games.

My next door neighbour plays games and she enjoyed them until she got to about 13. Probably something to do with thinking that her girlfriends would call her names for playing them. But to be honest she wasn't particularily good. She was okay, and at some game she was getting quite good.

The trouble was, she didn't put enough effort into playing. She gave up easily and didn't try much. This was her main downfall. If she tried a bit harder I feel she cold have got better and gone on to maybe beating me and my friends at some of our games.

Its a pity though...she didn't. She stopped playing games and because of this I now know, no girls who play games. This comes as a surprise because there is no rule that says boys are more able when it comes to playing games.
Gaming is about equal opportunities, even the most unfit of us can become superstar football players, the most non-violent of us can become hitmen. It gives us freedom and the ability to do what we want.

Also if you play some more recent games you will notice a important thing, the lead character happens to be female. NOw I may be missing something but is this an attempt to get more females to play by having a charater they can associate with? Or is it just an attempt to get more desperate males to play in the hope of seeing a bit of flesh?

Gamers should be of all sexs, gaming should become a way to enjoy spending time with your girlfriend instead of boring her by making her watch you play. One day maybe it could be incorporated into pubs. A games console running on the wide screen when no football is on. People could come along and play their mates and competitions could be played (with the loser buying the drinks). Gaming is all about socialising....well it should be.....playing games, meeting new people, making new friends...it makes sense.
