I understand that many people like Nintendo, their style, and their usually excellently styled games. I didn't particularly find their games to my liking compared to some of the Playstation and Playstation 2 titles I have played since. Admittedly their are many more bad titles on the Sony console than on the Nintendo console, but their are also many more good games to go along with those. I saw a post on here a few days ago quoting figures, when Meka reared his head and started on about percentages, none of this matters in my opinion. What matters to me is that I am playing games which I enjoy, and that I am happy to be playing. It doesn't really matter to me what system they come on, what system they are better on or who makes them, if it is a game which I enjoy, then I am happy.
One of my friends has said since the conception and announcement of the PS2 that he would be buying one, and I had many discussions with him about how crap it would be, but when I played Ridge Racer 5 and Street Fighter EX3 on Import, I was hooked, and instantly decided I would buy one. It was these games, which are claimed as being relatively poor in hindsight which made me consider buying the system. I was overawed by the graphical capabilities of Ridge Racer 5, and still to this day, I hold them as revolutionary for it's time, the jaggies were of no importance to me, the quality of the models and the detail such as glowing brake discs had it set, but more importantly, it played better than any other arcade racer I had played.
The Playstation 2 has an even brighter future than it has been to date. It is about to bring about an online revolution, it may not be the innovator, but it has enough of an established user base to really bring online gaming and internet access up to date, I am sure that the quality of the games mixed with a multiplayer community will surpass that of the PC's first person shooter and RTS scene, Tony Hawks and Twisted Metal Black are set to become the new trend setters in this area.
All I can say is that I am pleased with my PS2's past, present and future, and I wouldn't change it for any other system, so stop trying to hassle me into changing my mind, please.
You're Scottish... people should understand.
Don't shoot yoursaelf in the foot over this... you'll get over it, attach the PS2 to your wall and buy a Gamecube, in time.
Take Care and WATCH YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE!
