I have my Playstation 2, many of you know this. I do not want a Gamecube, many of you know this, because none of the games appeal to me, and I haven't yet seen a game which I would rather play then the ones I already have for my PS2, never mind games which are due to be released for the PS2. So why is it people keep trying to tell me that I would be much better off with a Gamecube than my PS2? The situation baffles me.

I understand that many people like Nintendo, their style, and their usually excellently styled games. I didn't particularly find their games to my liking compared to some of the Playstation and Playstation 2 titles I have played since. Admittedly their are many more bad titles on the Sony console than on the Nintendo console, but their are also many more good games to go along with those. I saw a post on here a few days ago quoting figures, when Meka reared his head and started on about percentages, none of this matters in my opinion. What matters to me is that I am playing games which I enjoy, and that I am happy to be playing. It doesn't really matter to me what system they come on, what system they are better on or who makes them, if it is a game which I enjoy, then I am happy.

One of my friends has said since the conception and announcement of the PS2 that he would be buying one, and I had many discussions with him about how crap it would be, but when I played Ridge Racer 5 and Street Fighter EX3 on Import, I was hooked, and instantly decided I would buy one. It was these games, which are claimed as being relatively poor in hindsight which made me consider buying the system. I was overawed by the graphical capabilities of Ridge Racer 5, and still to this day, I hold them as revolutionary for it's time, the jaggies were of no importance to me, the quality of the models and the detail such as glowing brake discs had it set, but more importantly, it played better than any other arcade racer I had played.

The Playstation 2 has an even brighter future than it has been to date. It is about to bring about an online revolution, it may not be the innovator, but it has enough of an established user base to really bring online gaming and internet access up to date, I am sure that the quality of the games mixed with a multiplayer community will surpass that of the PC's first person shooter and RTS scene, Tony Hawks and Twisted Metal Black are set to become the new trend setters in this area.

All I can say is that I am pleased with my PS2's past, present and future, and I wouldn't change it for any other system, so stop trying to hassle me into changing my mind, please.

They're a bit dull I think. I'm haven't really like any PS2 advert I've seen. If there weren't any adverts at all, maybe I'd have a PS2 by now. Third place indeed. Will the PS3 be the fourth place perhaps? What happened to the First place in the first place? Who knows? Who cares? Oh that's right, me, almost forgot.

Can't anyone mention the PC in this forum without insulting it? Well yes they can, like me and many others it is usually brought up only to say that a console thing will be better than what the PC has done in the area. What you said here Bonus doesn't sound right, you would suggest that there will be less PC players of online games than those of PS2 games. I seriously doubt this, for one thing hundreds of people log into MMORPGs like Ultima online and Everquest every day. Both PC games and very popular, then there' FPS like you said which includes Counter Strike, Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament to name but a few. These games are extremely popular and the technology of the PS2 may be able to match them but chances are that when Quake 4 and Doom 3 and the like come rolling in the PS2 will be flattened in their tracks. Of course there are RTS games like Command & Conquer, RPGs like Diablo and various miscellaneous games like Black £ White, online Chess and whatever else.

Now, as far as the PS2 getting a good online multiplayer scene, this is a possibility, after all people still play Half-Life and mods of it online. That's the thing though, they play mods, they get updates all of these things which you wont really get for the PS2. Multiplayer games will last longer if there are more maps to play, otherwise you might just get bored. Then there are the new consoles, the X-Box will have Halo. Halo is looking like being a game that uses great graphics and has excellent team gameplay styles as well perhaps as free for alls. I suspect that PS2 multiplayer games will quickly look a little less appealing as games like this are released.

Will the Gamecube have online capabilities at some point? I haven't really heard about that.

Anyway, the PS2 is becoming dated and I'm sure we can expect to see the PS3 in a couple of years. By which time of course we will be saying "compared to the PS3, the Gamecube and X-Box are looking past their time". Perhaps it is time to leave the PS2 behind, just as Dreamcast users will soon leave their machine behind, perhaps you will want to hold on for a year but after that aren't you going to at least be a little curious as to what the newer consoles have to offer?

Amen to that :D

I'm not so pleased with the PS2's past as such, but the near future is very bright indeed.

If it helps, Bonus, I read them too.

And I agree with this one 100%.

You're happy with your PS2 - as am I - and that is *all* that matters.

Ignore the small-minded, blinkered fools who try to tell you otherwise. :-)

I do too.

And Bonus, you like the N64 Zelda.
You have no choice in this matter whether you like it or not!

:-D

Anyway, all this arguing about who's best, every knows that it won't make a difference to other peoples opinions.
So long as you refrain from cussing down the opposing system then you're doing no harm.

Bonus gets ticked off when people call the PS2 sequel station, I get ticked off when people dismiss the Gamecube as a kiddies toy.

It's these stereotypes that are the problem.
Everyone should read my topic about them and NEVER use them again.
