With the events of yesterday in America that had an affect on the majority of people in the world it kind of puts gaming in its place....

...yesterday we saw what can only be described as evil, there is no simple word other than that for what happened yesterday. Sadly, it will continue, and we will not see the end of this conflict for a couple of weeks and I bet you are really looking forward (sarcastic) when Hollywood (being the senseless people they are) make a film out of it.

Well anyway, what has happened has happened, the world will still continue and I would like to offer some words of wisdom to any other people who have been heavily affected by this in anyway wherever you are.

Play a game, go on, grab a console and in the time of confusing depression just play your favorite game... because as my topic about a month talked about it is a great healer or way out. It helps you to lose your thought pattern for a few minutes and this in most ways is a good thing.

Don't care about what others think, I know yesterday when I was in London seeing the news and watching the buildings being evacuated all I wanted was to be at home and playing one of my games, not because I don't care about what happened (because hell I do) but because sometimes when things get to me (which some might know on here) they hit me hard, gaming is my way out from these matters.

Next time, just try it. You really have nothing to lose.

Sorry if this seems a little insensitive, I can only have my opinion.

Thanks

Yesterday I chose my GAD.

I too wanted to play games to get away from it all.

You're quite right, we should all take some time to do the usual things we do for entertainment. Games are a good way to relieve stress and make problems seem more distant. You can then return feeling more refreshed and having more distance to consider your problems over. I just don't think that certain films or games would cheer you up but then maybe they could help you to consider the situation. At the moment I would avoid action movies and games like Max Payne. Role playing games might also be out of limits, especially Fallout. Play a good cartoony game like those that are often complained about on the N64 or something that's just simple fun. B&W might be a good one, it has almost cartoony elements and you can have fun either helping your little folks along or take you anger out by throwing things. It's more relaxing than you might expect trying to hit a target with a villager.
