Todays events seem to have brought it all to a head, made people realise what a terrible world we live in, just how hate-filled people can be. We live in a world were people get stabbed for supporting the wrong football team, children can't get to scholl without fear of violence due to their religion, and terrorists kill thousands with hijacked planes crashing into the World Trade Building.
Apparently, when 'rapture', or whatever you want to call the end of the world as we know it, comes, the good will be saved. In the christian religion it's those that have followed the religion will be saved, I imagine other religions believe something similar.
But why oh why would an almighty being want to save us? They would be better off scrapping us all and starting again. You could save all of the honest, moral, good people, but what's to guarentee that their ogffspring would also be good, especially after a number of generations.
If we are to believe the Noah's Ark story, God then wiped out the majority of the worlds people, because they were afwul, rage filled individuals. much like much of the world we live in now. He saved Noah and his family, as tey were decent folk. If that's to be truelly believed, then we all come from there, and the world, in general is a hate filled place.
So if the end of the world does come, we don't deserve saving. No matter how 'good' you as a person are, we, as a race, are hell-bent on destruction, on destroying anything different, on eliminating those that think differently, and that's where we're destined to end up.
If there is life out there, on other planets, is it any wonder why they've never paid us a visit?

Me and Sheepy have sorted this out on MSN like the fun-loving people that we are. {:)

But we're not all hate filled...
There are many bad things here on Earth. But many good thing as well-lots of acts of kindess are performed every day.
I guess God paid for all these sins when Jesus died on the cross. He loves us all-the good people anyway. Even the sinners he loves, and he's especially happy when they turn from the 'dark side,' if you know what I mean.
I guess he concentrates on the good stuff a lot of the time...
Do you think any God would be proud of a race that does things like this?
After that post from you I could go on cursing and swearing about "the great almighty".
Look, God did not cause this. Maybe you could blame it on the Devil, although it's partly his fault. The Devil seeps into people's minds, brainwashing them. Perhaps he is a part of all this.
But still, these terrorists made their own mind up about it. THEY decided to do it, not God.
When Jesus died on the cross for us, he payed for all these sins. And as I'm sure you all know, these people will be dealt with accordingly by God.
And we can always turn to God...I have many times, and he has never failed me. Although you may not see it, I expect God has saved a few lives during all this.
God works in strange ways. Most of the time, you never know when he will answer. The answer may come months, maybe years later. And he will mostly answer in a way that you don't expect him to...
Sorry if I sound really annoyed, probably because I am. Whoever blames God is being ignorant in my opinion, as it is our problem. Humans did this (physco ones, obviously,) not God.

Surely if there was anyone there who gave a damn, and

Not necessarily. Suffering does not necessary come from God. It is people like the people responsible who cause suffering. They think therefore they can act and do what they want. God cannot intervene I believe as he is up there and we are down here. I would pray that God would save us in bad times and if he does then he does for a reason.
Frankly a life with God would probably be better than a life on a war torn earth.
Surely the argument is, that you aren't judged for any of your actions until you die, where you'll go to heaven or hell. Punishing the evil gives them no chance to change their ways before it's too late. If there is a heaven, then death isn't be such a bad thing either. Most people in the buildings and the planes would've died instantly, without suffering - though their families will.
However, I'm not really religous, so I don't believe in
that. I purely see it as an unspeakably evil thing to do.
I still fear what may come of it, but I'm not going to start to go to church now, I'll die for being open minded.
As usual, I don't mean to offend anyone, but I never understand how people can turn to 'God' in times like this and say "Please save us."
Surely if there was anyone there who gave a damn, and who could do anything about it, they wouldn't let things like this happen in the first place.
