Can someone help me by going over to BT's main offices and whacking the guys responsible for Broadband. That way they might do something about the lack of support for anyone living over 5.5km from my exchange. (ie me!) Maybe then I can have Live...

Nah, can't find out because I have ISDN, which prevents them from doing a search on this site, both are RED.

BT usually know anyway, I'll keep on pestering them in the meantime!...

What for both 512k and 1mb ? You might as well place an order with a ISP if you can afford or allowed broadband.

pb I tried the test and it was working today. BT sometimes gets there information wrong, and even this test isnt perfect. But to really find out whether you can get broadband you might as well place an order. You wont be charged anything if you cant get it. If your sucessful in getting ADSL then your better off, maybe lighter in the wallet, but the speed will soon make you :).

That doesn't seem to work at the moment, but according to BT when I phoned them last week I still can't get it.

Anyway pb are you certain you are 7.5km? Have you actually used a BT checker to check your line to see whether you can get 512k at least?

Try http://www.vispa.net/bbcheck-beta.php?cli=PHONENUMBER and replace Phonenumber with your number. It will do a check to see whether you can get 512k and even 1mb or 2mb. Try it and you might be suprised, or it may confirm your worst fears :(

No cable, no sign of cable coming either. I'm probably about 7.5km from the exchange. Only some places have extended reach ADSL as well, because BT can't get their ar*e in gear.

And no, I only have ISDN at present.

I think it may be up to 6.5km and not 6km. Just apply again pb and see if you can get it via the extended reach scheme. Just upgraded to 1mb ADSL, took 10 days from the trial date of the 13th to get it. Nice zipping along a 120k/s :)

pb do you have cable? If so get broadband through that instead of ADSL.

Oops, may have missed the point there. Do you already have broadband but just need support? If so, apologies but please ignore my previous post! (It is late y'know!)
