I searched a reviews website for games that scored above 80% on both the N64 and PSone. The search returned:
67 N64 games, ranging from Zelda: OOT to X-Men: Mutant academy.
152 PSone games, ranging from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 to Brave Fenser Musashi.
So there were 85 more good games on the PSone. Even if you have a higher opinion of a good game, there are still:
13 N64 games ranging from Zelda: OOT to Turok 2.
23 PSone games ranging from Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 to Winning Eleven 4.
Scoring 90% or more.
So, make of this what you wish, but I think next time someone says that Nintendo games are better, they should think carefully first.
Someone
> on this site said "A true gamer doesnt have any rubbish

And that is very true.
Really, all these facts and figures shouldn't really aply yo most people, who will do a bit of research before parting with £30+ for a game.
They'll read reviews, play demos- where possbile, and generally look into it before shelling out their cash.
Is it perhaps more than a coincedance that the N64, with no demo disc, has a higher percentage of top quality games?
MEaning that because people couldn't try a demo, Nintendo wanted to make it easier for them to buy a good game, by having, in relation, more good games around?
In summary,
> Nintendo's range of games may be less than half that of the PSX's,
> but there's more quality in that range so there's less chance of
> getting a duff one. (Like Superman N64).
If you researched properly before spending your money then you wouldnt be in that situation. Someone on this site said "A true gamer doesnt have any rubbish games"
As many reviews are assessed as possible from websites and the average is taken.
For example, Gran Turismo 3 on the PS2 is reviewed on 61 sites, and given ratings varying between 80.0% and 100%. The average score is taken, and the result is an average score of 94.9% Huge numbers of website reviews are generally included for each game, making this a very good guideline score.
You can also sort games by 'user votes', where users themselves score the game out of 10 when they look at it on the rankings site. This is more hit and miss as some games have no user votes at all and others only have 1 or 2 votes, making it very misleading.
For example, it could be that all the Grade B games on the PSX would be rated Grade A if they were on the N64 (if you see what I mean), and Vice Versa.
I know for a fact that every single game rated 9/10 in ODM is worth getting, it's just a shame I don't have enough money or enough hours in the day to play them all....
DC has 12 Games ranked 90% or better
DC has 61 Games ranked 80% or better
Out of a total of 263 games listed
Therefore
DC Grade A Games = 4.56%
DC Grade A and B Games = 23.19%
Roughly on par with Nintendo with it's quality composition. Bear in mind though that this is a 128-bit console and we should really be comparing these figures to the PS2, Gamecube and X-Box, but I suspect that these figures will remain the same for Sony and Nintendo on their next gen consoles too, with Sony going for quantity over quality and Nintendo vice versa.
> IN TOTAL are reviewed for each machine, and which machine has the
> greater percentage of good games?
N64 has 13 Games ranked 90% or better (Grade A)
N64 has 67 Games ranked 80% or better (Grade B)
Out of a total of 275 games listed.
PSX has 23 Games ranked 90% or better
PSX has 152 Games ranked 80% or better
Out of a total of 697 games listed.
Therefore:
Nintendo Grade A games = 4.72%
Nintendo Grade A and B games = 24.36%
PSX Grade A game = 3.30%
PSX Grade A and B games = 21.81%
(All figures to 2 d.p.)
In summary, Nintendo's range of games may be less than half that of the PSX's, but there's more quality in that range so there's less chance of getting a duff one. (Like Superman N64).
With the PSX you get more than twice the choice as you do with Nintendo, but it's more hit and miss as to whether the game you get will be duff or not unless you choose the title carefully.
TBN is right in that this is an unbiased site that we are pulling figures from, but we are including ALL games released worldwide in our figures, not just PAL format, although I don't think the percentages would change much if we ruled out the imports.
Hey, I'd own all the consoles if I had the money.
...all the consoles in the wooooooooooooorld......
bwahahahahaahhahhahahaha!
