Nothing beats having ya mates round and having them there when you beat em and can laugh at them. Or network gameing. That's great! Just spent the past yr playing networked Quake 3 at uni and that was just great fun! "The Slayer" won just a few times to many and had fun annoying people by assigning sayings to the f-keys and repeatedly pressing em!
Also I don't see how online gaming could work with Zelda. It's just not the sort of RPG that that would work on. RPG's like Diablo, Phantasy Star Online, are games that work over the net, but Zelda just isn't one game that I think would work. Ya see, RPGs that work over the internet arn't really ones you complete, but rather ones you just play. Zelda is one of those RPG's where you don't go around building up loads of stats and wonder aimlessly around looking for fights, but an RPG where you have set goals to accomplish (ie temples) to get you to the final boss and then complete the game.
So I just don't think Zelda should/will ever have, online multiplaying!
I DON'T think so!
The main emphasis of an RPG is on the story and action. The one player experiance. When I played Zelda 64, Final Fantasy 7,8 etc I never once thought about a multiplayer aspect for it. Why? Well cos I just had soo much fun just playing them as they were. They were perfect! Having some multiplayer aspect put into Zelda 64 would just have delayed it loads more and would not really have added that much to the experiance. Most great RPG's are ones that engross you into the one player game, and keep you playing till you have completed it, MANY hours later!
So no! It's unnecessary!
Also you can bet your last chip that the next Zelda on Gamecube WON'T have a multiplayer aspect, so grrrr!
Nuff said!
