Many people say that the PS2 is more powerful than the Gamecube.
I really doubt this although I suspect that the PS2 does have one or two technical advantages over the cube.
But say these Sony fans are right and the Gamecube is in last place then that still doesn't stop it from being the best...
Apart from the Nintendo devellopers who have made the thing, many other key devellopers have marked it as their favourite machine to make games for.
Capcom and the Sonic team were the first. They've both told the world many times how much they like the cube.
Sonic Team apparently managed to convert Phantasy Star online to the cube within a month.
Now they have plenty of time to iron out bugs and glitches and enhance the game rather than having to rush it into a half baked conversion.
Squaresoft, Konami and Namco have all said they like the hardware very much and look forward to releasing games on it.
One of the industries main devellopers, Mr Suzuki from Sega (behind games like Virtua Fighter and Shenmue) has actually said that the Gamecube impressed him much more than the other two consoles. (And this was DIRECTLY quoted. No exadurations)
So all the major devellopers love it.
Capcom, Sonic Team and AM2 went as far to say that it was their favourite.
So even if technically, it offers the least power, the main programmers, the top professionals in the business love it most.
Seeing as they're the ones who make the games (the most important thing for any console), surely this means that the Gamecube has a clear advantage in that department.
So next time some technical spod tells you that the Gamecube has weaker hardware, you ca point out that it's still the BEST hardware, as marked by the top programmers in the industry.
Every console in the market in a few months time will all have their own unique attributes. Gamecube - got some funny Gekko processor; something that enable perfect visibility throughout the game, demolishes 'fogging' and if an object looks smooth up close but has sharp edges in the background - this will not happen with the 'Cube. It has the power to keep everything completely smooth. The Gamecube has other specific features exclusive to it, but I don't know which, yet.
Shocktrooper.
In terms of hardware, the gamecube and xbox work very similarly thanks to ATI and Nvidia using PC style 3D graphics processors and PC graphical techniques. The Playstation 2 is a unique system, nothing like it has ever been designed before, and that is causing some major problems, but once developers are used to the way it works it will be pushing back graphical boundaries.
Either way, the differences in the abilities of these systems is very little, the Xbox has the edge, but not the games, the Gamecube has ease of use and if you like Nintendo's games, you are in for a treat. As for the PS2, you've had to wait a while for anything decent but by the time the Gamecube and Xbox arrive in the UK, it should be up to speed with the other two, so basically, the specs don't matter all that much to someone simply interested in the games, just find the console with the games you want and buy it.
> Exactly what games are those developers making for the cube?
I don't know exact details but you know yourself that Capcoms Resident Evil 0 is cube exclusive and hopefully they'll treat us kids with the Devil May Cry and Maximo too.
Not all of them have done enough work to announce what games they are making but I'm sure that they've got a neat line up in mind.
Now, however, it's "The 'Cube will fail, it's powerful enough."
See a bit of a contradiction there?
