Many people say that the PS2 is more powerful than the Gamecube.
I really doubt this although I suspect that the PS2 does have one or two technical advantages over the cube.
But say these Sony fans are right and the Gamecube is in last place then that still doesn't stop it from being the best...
Apart from the Nintendo devellopers who have made the thing, many other key devellopers have marked it as their favourite machine to make games for.
Capcom and the Sonic team were the first. They've both told the world many times how much they like the cube.
Sonic Team apparently managed to convert Phantasy Star online to the cube within a month.
Now they have plenty of time to iron out bugs and glitches and enhance the game rather than having to rush it into a half baked conversion.
Squaresoft, Konami and Namco have all said they like the hardware very much and look forward to releasing games on it.
One of the industries main devellopers, Mr Suzuki from Sega (behind games like Virtua Fighter and Shenmue) has actually said that the Gamecube impressed him much more than the other two consoles. (And this was DIRECTLY quoted. No exadurations)
So all the major devellopers love it.
Capcom, Sonic Team and AM2 went as far to say that it was their favourite.
So even if technically, it offers the least power, the main programmers, the top professionals in the business love it most.
Seeing as they're the ones who make the games (the most important thing for any console), surely this means that the Gamecube has a clear advantage in that department.
So next time some technical spod tells you that the Gamecube has weaker hardware, you ca point out that it's still the BEST hardware, as marked by the top programmers in the industry.
N64 magazines have said something about it and even one of my friends DC magazines had it in an interview.
And the reason the PS2 has all these games line up compared to the Gamecubes few is that the PS2 has been out for a year while they've only recently got GC devellopment kits.
They've not made any announcements yet but it's only a matter of time...
Don't you find it strange that Capcom have ONE game set for the Gamecube which was orginally supposed to add to their collection of TWO N64 games, Compare that one to Onimusha 1+2, Street fighter ex3, capcom vs SNK, maximo:ghosts to glory, RE:CVX and Devil May Cry. mmm if they do prefer the gamecube over the PS2 why is their nothing planned?, there's a question for you.
If anything Capcom prefer sega, They gave an extra battle mode on resident evil 1 and Sega have given the most support for most of their dreamcast games but somehow most return to the Playstation.
The team most likely put it on the PS2 first because:
a) The game started devellopment before the Gamecube was unveiled (it takes atleast a year and a half to make a game of that class!)
b) Apart from the dying Dreamcast, the PS2 is the only console to release it on.
I might be wrong but we'll only know for sure after Capcom have decided to port it onto the cube.
I don't like Sony very much because of their microsoft type attitude but even so they've made a super console even if the anti analising has to written into the code and now lets see some of them good games.
But over time, developers always get more out of a machines hard ware. The N64 exceeded its theoretical hard ware limitations with Jet Force Gemini. So both the GC and the PS2 will get better. However I do tend to think that the GC will get stronger over time, at a higher rate than the PS2. The X-box is totally different and only time will tell with that.
But the real reason that the GC is good is simply because it is intended for games. Nintendo developed it to make good games on. Sony are concerned with too many other things that are not game related. And for that the PS2 is not an expert in any area. Whether or not the X-box will end up like that I do not know. After all the X-box hard ware is like a PC in its set up. And PC games are never developed with an exact set up in mind. They have to be general for those who have slower PCs. But now developers have the chance to get down and dirty with PC hard ware, because everyone has the same. So we will see.
I just want to see the machines in action.
For example, Shigeru Miyamoto took around 3 years to complete the Zelda engine and game - but with this new Zelda, it took him about 3 months to finish the new engine that the game will run on - and he has the rest of the time to work on the in-game stuff! He can finish the game (that will end up twice, or maybe three time as big as Zelda) in under half the time it took for Ocarina Of Time - that is the power of the Gamecube.
To be truly honest, I think Nintendo are dominant in the console departemnt when it comes down to entertaining, good-looking and utterly playable and addictive games. They just never seem to put a foot wrong when they release a new game with new ideas. Zelda OOT was absolutely superb and was voted by many as the best game ever created - I am close to agreeing.
Soon enough, you will all see that the Gamecube will be the console that everyone wants and it will be the console that will revolutionise the gaming industry - what with its innovative mini-discs. It is a cube for heavens sake! That has never been done before. It has four controller ports for a stunning multiplayer experience. If the N64's multiplayer entertained so many with it's 64 bit graphics, then I cannot wait for the multiplayer madness that the Gamecube will bring.
All in a small-sized cube, eh? Marvellous, bloody marvellous :-)
Thank you.
Shocktrooper.

The devil may cry team like the gamecube better? if thats what your saying I'd love to know where you heard that because it's not true.
There are lots of devellopment teams in Sega.
So expect a wide diversity of games on all systems.
The 2 main ones, Sonic Team and AM2 have both said that they like the Gamecubes hardware the most. This isn't simply because it's easy to code for, Suzuki said it impressed him more than the other two consoles.

The way I see it, Sony are corprate businessmen who designed their console on style and power.
Microsoft used their experience on the PC market to put together a machine with state of the art power from PC technology.
Nintendo is the only company out of these three who are serious games designers.
Nintendo made a machine that suits games best, just like Sega did with the Dreamcast.
I've no doubt that the DC and GC have plenty of similarities (cell shading for example).
That might be why most games devellopers love the Gamecube so much.
