Oh, and to answer the original point, there's a product you can buy for $70 or so to enable usb support in nt4...

Yeah, debian has usb kernel support as standard on the driverX.bin install disks. Redhat doesn't actually have a 7.2 kernel yet...and if you only want the thing as a firewall, try OpenBSD/NetBSD. Obsd has the best record of any o/s that I'm aware, over 3 years without a security hole.

I use Mandrake 7.2 and USB supposrt is perfect. I use a USB optical mouse every day. Try upgrading to at least a 7.2 kernel.

I'm almost certain I've read people have USB working under Linux. Don't remember which version though.

Anyone know how to use usb on Linux (red hat 6.2). I am getting ADSL soon and want to use a linux box as a firewall/nat server. I heard it was possible but carn't find any info on the web.

Install Windows 2000 Professional - from experience its better all round. Just don't use IIS!
