I don't care how good WinXP is, I'm not going to let it near my PC if I was paid £20,000.
Like I said, it'll use parts of the NT kernel for stability. I though WinXP had this emulation feature...run any win9x/NT app? Good work there then MicroSoft..
Ok, Microsoft do not refer to it directly as NT but other programs may do.

You say tht but i had a program tht did not like xp and it gave me the error this software cannot run under windows Nt .. if its not compared to NT.. explain tht! if you still prove me wrong then i am very sorry!

I have vowed never to install WinXP on one of my boxen...I'd rather MS didn't know everything about my PC.. It's not just NT5, it's designed for home and office use (in different versions). I presume they've rewritten the entire kernel, keeping the best parts of the Win2k source and stealing plenty from Open Source along the way...probably found a loophole in the GPL.

Cheers for the advice. The reason I was gonna use 6.2 is that it is more secure then 7.* and this machine will be perminatly connected to the net all day long. Although I am now looking at 7 as I have a firewall script for it.
