Quick and simple question, is the single player long enough and challenging enough to keep me happy? I have read so many bloody reviews, some saying the single player was pants and then others saying that multiplayer deathmatch was a massive let down but none have really answered what I wanted to know.

I am off to town tomorrow and its between Amped 2 and this but seeing as though Amped 2 has a killer offline mode as well as an online mode which smashes it I want to know what Mario Kart has on offer from purely a >>>>>>SINGLE PLAYER<<<<<< point of view.

Multiplayer won't be played as for the very few times I actually bother playing GameCube multiplyer (or offline multiplayer on any platform) it will be either on my Xbox or PS2 (the latter only used for Pro Evolution 3). As it stands I am set to get Amped 2 but having gotten bored of my last few Cube games (or the majority for that matter) I want to give Mario Kart a chance before I offload my Cube.

Any information regarding length, difficulty and the overall "Mario Kart" feel aimed at the single player would be appreciated, cheers.

SSX 3's utter guff.

Amped 2 takes it to school and beats it round the head with a spikey baseball bat.

Maybe I'm just a freak (probably am) but I've always loved Mario Kart's single player modes. The original, of course, was the best, and has clocked up so many hours, it's unreal. And of course, the Mario Kart series is the only racer that I've ever bothered to challenge myself on time-attack mode.

But don't take my opinion for it, as I haven't played it yet.

If you're wanting an good 1-player game and considering Amped 2... get SSX3. You may think it's just another crappy attempt to get some cash by EA, but it really is the best snowboarding title you'll come across, plus there's a whole load of stuff to do and unlockabels to collect so it'll keep you busy for a fair few months if you want it 100% complete..

1080 and Amped 2 will be nowhere near as good.

As for MK:DD, I've just got it so I'll tell you how the 1-Player fairs up later on. MK64 didn't have a great 1-player mode, so I wouldn't expect much if I were you.

Well, I got tired of Mario Kart Super Circuit on the GBA a fortnight ater getting it (I had unlocked everything, and completed every track).
SO I started trying for World Records, that gave me a challenge.
Came close too.

MKDD single player can be completed in well under 12 hours if you try, but then there is always time trial mode, have you checked out www.mkdd.co.uk for all the unlockables etc etc
