I flicked on Sky News today at 6:00pm to watch the headlines and the Main Headline was the most awful thing i have ever seen.
In Belfast, Northern Ireland, a group of Roman Catholic girls had to be escorted to school on their first day back as they where hounded and harassed by Protestant adults as they made their way down a Protestant part of Belfast to get to their school. About 200 Protestant protesters hurled abuse and spat at the children as they made their way to the school earlier in the day. Riot police and troops struggled to hold back the baying mob amid the appalling scenes. Protesters chanted "scum, scum, scum" as parents tried to shield their children from the hate.
The School is on a border line between a Protestant part of Belfast and a Roman Catholic part of Belfast. These kids walked along a main road (which is the shortest way to the school) which is in the Protestant part of Belfast. As they did so local Protestant adults shouted abuse at these kids who are only 4 to 6 years old. They where making threats to these kids and their parents. Their language was appalling, especially when used against kids of that age. Police in Riot Gear lined the street to protect the parents and the kids. The Police came under a lot of pressure from the angry Protestants and they regularly kicked the police and pushed them. The Police and media presence didn't stop the Protestant people from throwing missiles at the young school kids and their parents. One of the kids got hit by a brick and a Catholic woman was taken to hospital with a head wound.
When the report showed footage of this event it was shocking to say the least. All of these kids where scared out of their minds and where all in tears. It even had people leaning out of balcony's insulting them as they walked past.
The board of the school suggested that they use the alternative route to get to the school. But Ann Tanney, head of Holy Cross school, said the move could only be viewed as a temporary solution, and this is what she had to say about the suggestion:
"It isn't really an entrance to the school. It is a way through another school, across a pitch and through a narrow gate. It is not a long-term solution to the problem," she said. "We hope that in spite of all the terrible things that happened today that people will be able to come together and realise that.....children, Catholic and Protestant, have an absolute basic right to come to school without fear."
This is sickening. How can adults threaten children and their parents just because of their religion? I find it mind boggling and disturbing. These people should be ashamed of themselves for what they have done.
And if you thought that was bad, i had just found this article on the web:
An extreme loyalist group has warned Catholic parents and children they will be attacked for a second time if they return to a Protestant area on their way to school.
The Red Hand Defenders said parents 'would be dealt with' if they returned to the Ardoyne Road on Tuesday. Girls as young as four, many crying in terror, ran the gauntlet on Monday between protesters, army and riot police.
The news comes as the governors of Holy Cross Primary School urged parents to take an alternative route.
This is an example of how low the human race can get.....

What the hell is the point? I am, basically, a protestant, but I don't call myself that! I'm a christian, and if I am right, so are Catholics. We may have a few different views, but I think we still believe in the same God!
So why is this happening? In my opinion, none of those protestants are christians at all, the way they're acting. They're being stupid, childish, immature, idiotic-any word that will describe them badly that can get through the filter.
I have been typing this for a minute, probably the fastest I've typed in a long time. Shows how annoyed I am.
