Q. If a Shenmue 3 was made would it sell well?
A. Ofcourse it would, no matter what console it was made for (including Dreamcast) it would sell hundreds of thousands in Japan during the first month alone.

Yeah, if he's stuck with say, the gameworld of the first game, then concentrated on making every building and room explorable and interactive, included more side-quests, and reduced the over-ambitious plot, Shenmue would've been the true classic it was meant to be. Ah well.
It wasn't so noticeable in the first game, but when you have Ryo ask the same bloody question to every person in Honk Kong and receive the same sodding answer every time, it gets kind of annoying.
More interactivity with your enviroments would have helped.
