They had this thing on Top Gear recently about cars from the late 80s and early 90s that are soon to become classics. Why not have a selection of games from -well, let's say since 1995- that will become 'retro classics 'in the near future.

To name a few:
Ridge Racer
Quake II
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit
Age of Empires
Unreal
Railroad Tycoon II
Hidden and Dangerous

Anyone got any other ideas? (I can't be bothered to add any more titles right now)

Mario 64 was full 3D, and released before Tomb Raider (just not in Europe).

Tomb Raider has to be in there. First full-3D game ever made. Shame that the last two were so rubbish, though...

Mattribute's missed the point I think, they were all out this year.

I wouldn't pick any of Der Nazi's as classics either!

It's tough, but...

Tomb Raider, Parappa the Rapper, Soul Blade all spring to mind. If we're really going back in time then Speedball 2 for definite.

Maybe, but I thought the arcade version was great.

There's a place in Worthing called 'The Lido' where they have loads of outdated classics (Such as Ridge Racer, Sonic and the original Virtua Fighter) in the arcade, and it's like being in the early 90s again. It'd be great, except for the fact the dude who runs it doesen't like me because I'm always setting off alarms.

But if you're ever in Worthing, and enjoy arcade stuff from 1989-95, go there.

I thought ridge racer was pants - you only got one track, all the cars handled the same and it was ridiculously easy to complete.
