When I recieved my welcome pack for the PS2 it said the official magazine was essential and offers up to 5 playable demos with movie and game trailers. I've bought two issues since then and they didn't have anything on films and have 2 very short demos. The videos are of very poor quality compared to PSW or PSM2 and some say "availible now" when the game isn't out for months.

The magazine has some nice reviews and screenshots and is the first for news straight from Sony, but PSW is pretty damn fast at catching up and offers a brilliant DVD with an on disc back catalogue, Movie trailers, news, previews, reviews and bonuses. The commentary on the PSW disc talks you through what your seeing and is very interesting to hear.

The offial PSone magazine was fantastic and was the only magazine with a CD and playable demos but I find watching someone play is as effective as playing it yourself.

I buy PSW more than any other magazine and if you suscribe each issue costs £2.99, far better than dishing out £5 each month which by the way can get you a decent PSone game.

Yep. OPS2M is begining to disappoint me. I bought issue 1 and then subsribed. The mag is great, the DVD is not. Full stop. But they say that around Christmas they will give the DVD a major overhaul, so I'll give it until then. If it hasn't improved a lot then I will have to consider subcribing to PSW or PSM2.

Yeah, in a way. Unless the OPS2M has a playable game that you really want to play... which isn't often.
