My PC desperatly needs some new hardware, i've had it for over 4 years and it's Ram and modem are the only things that have been upgraded. I think my PC will need some more processor a new CPU and a good monitor (size doesn't matter) can someone tell me of some reasonably good stuff I could use.

thankyou

Yes, you will need a floppy disk drive..

Which motherboard you want really depends on what you want to put on it. I'd go for an athlon cpu and DDR ram, so socket A, but if you want to use the ram that you put in your dad's box then it'll (presumably) be sdram.

The Abit KT7A is a reasonable socket A mobo for sdram, I think they've got lite versions out now too. Don't limit yourself to just what SR have, their range of hardware is very small, get what would suit you best.

I'd really like some help on this please chaps, A motherboard board would be a great start, obviously because everything comes off it.

Turbonutter told me about the EPOX 8K7A, SR sell MICROSTAR MS 6330, with AMD Athlon processor, are these good motherboards and how much will EPOX 8K7A cost me?
+ SR don't sell floppy disk drives, do I really need one? I don't use them very much.

i'll be grateful for any help + i'm not tradin my old PC in.

I have the same problem.

We had a deal with Gateway that we could part-exchange for our next PC, and they've told us that we'll get £150 off. {:|

The thing is, i'm building my own PC, I already upgraded my dads Ram to 190mb, from the measly 32 it was at a few months ago, I was thinking maybe you guys could help me pick some stuff out, i'd check it out...a few weeks later take the RAM out of my dads pc and have a nice running PC of my own (hopefully :).

thankyou anyway FM

Simple solution is just to trade it in and get a new one.
