My dear friend- Frogman, went to America for 3 weeks and dug up some quite interesting news about the Gamecube and Xbox for those who didn't already know. Apparently (from some guys at an 'American' computer games store) he knows that the Gamecube is almost definitely set to be $150 to $170 and that Microsofts Xbox will be $299 or less. But he also told Frogman that the Xbox would be a bit more expensive with an add on of a modem for thei internet. Have you heard this yet guys? Does it mean cheap over heare for the GC? Does it help either of the companies?

Please discuss!

Go get someone to pre-order an Xbox for you in the US.
And make sure you hand them $600 (£412) in the process.
Microsoft seems to be destined to fall flat on its corporate face.

I'm expecting the Gamecube to be £200 but packaged with Monkey Ball.

That's if Nintendo like us.

Big IF unfortunately...

I expect the GC to be £199 over here, and the X-Box to be £250-£299.

i'd rather pay £199 for a GC that £299! so what if the American's get it cheaper, everythings cheaper out there + the gamecube will probably decrease in price as quickly as the N64 did when it was released. The PS2 will have been out for a year and Nintendo will have to move swiftly.

Well, one of the Dan's anyway, can't you all change your name to Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey, Sleepy, Happy, Grumpy and Doc to make it easier?

I went to Florida?

I think there's been another Dan mix up.

Are you sure it wasn't Dan2K1 or M16. :-)

DanUK told me the other night on MSN Messenger that whilst out in Florida he noticed the following deal out there...

$400 gets you an X-Box, 1 top game of your choice, 2 other not so top games of your choice, and ANY peripheral of your choice, including the DVD remote which gives you access to the X-Box's DVD functionality.

I suspect like all US prices that you have to add tax to that.

The good news is that even for £400 (using the £/$ parity that seems to be the norm) that's a bargain really, because I was expecting to pay up to £350 for just the X-Box, 1 controller and DVD remote.

I trust that SR will be providing similar bundles?

Here's one:

X-Box, 1 controller, DVD Remote, Halo all for £375 or less...

In canada they have 2 taxes. One that eveyone has to pay and one that you have to pay if u are over 13 i think. Nearly all the prices shown are before tax.

Anyway, i'm sure the US GC price has been confirmed long time back as $199 aint it?

It's not all VAT.
Games companies rip us off as well.
It's a joint effort.

Both the government and games companies blame each other but they're both as bad as each other.
