Hi FoGgers. Even though my set of work experience is a year away at the least, it just sprang to my mind 'who decides which person does which job'? I, being my technoligical self, do not wish to get stuck helping to stock shelves for the newsagent or help out at a local vet! So how does it work? Are the jobs pinned up on a pin board and after the teacher says go we all run towards it like raging animals running for prey?

I was just wondering...

:D

I've got mine this year. I want to work with lovely laddies and somewhere where you can have lots of beer. (not a pub).

If that fails, I will probably do a bit of labouring for my uncle.

I worked for a shipping company, pretty boring stuff, bloomin invoices all over the place, the guy I worked with didn't seem to do much but go out to meet his wife or make a phone call, even though we had about 3 phones in the office, all in all, a very organised job, hhmm, next year i'm hoping for a job at the tv studios they make Art Attack in!

well i could find any company ( you normally need connections) so i told the teacher in charge and he managed to land me a job at ICL, the IT company....
others got sent to BT etc....

but this summer my aunt helped me find a major rail company in hong kong where i worked there for 6 weeks getting paid too :)....

In my day, in the year between O levels and A levels, our work experience consisted of being told one day that our summer holidays would consist of working down t' pit.

It were 'ard, gettin' up at 3:30 each morn', we 'ad t' share t' tin bathtub, all 8 of us, before water from t'kettle went cold.

Then we 'ad a 15 mile walk t' pit, in pitch dark. We lost many a friend on that cold morning march, what wi them gettin lost on moors and fallin int' gulleys an ditches.

Then at the mine we'd graft on hands and kness for 16 hours, hittin' t' coalface wi our 'ammers and havin' t' carry coal out in our mouths because pit ponies 'ad t' summer off takin' people for rides in Blackpool.

We'd break for lunch, and share an apple between us that we'd picked from our own family orchard, then we'd work for another 16 hours wi'out a break.

But we loved every minute of it. There were none of this 'Tetris' nonsense, we were workers and proud of it. We never even had time for gaming in them days, it were all coal and apples and Hovis.

Even now when I'm playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 on my Dreamcast, I'll occaisionally chew on a lump of coal just to bring back those happy memories.

You kids today, you don't know what work is...

This may be my only post tonight for the sake of everyone else here. I am in a terrible mood. Think of your worst mood, times it by ten and your not even close.

I wanted to do my work experience in a place building and testing PCs, but some [filter wont let me say it] decided I'm gonna have to go and work at some place making pallets. Fantastic. When I asked why, they said it wasn't up to me and fobbed me off with some crap about CAD being used there.
