This is addressed to everyone, just because I think it's relevant to these forums, and *might* be interesting.

The question:
When you read a thread you haven't looked at before, how many of the posts do you read?
Do you read the initial message, plus say, the most recent page?
Or do you just read the last few messages?
Or maybe the whole thread, if it's below 20 posts or so?

So what do you all do?

Myself, I'll read the initial message first, then the last 6/7 messages to see if the topic is still on track. If not, I probably won't bother replying to the original topic, but maybe one of the few most recent replies. If it is on track, I'll post my thoughts, and if the whole thread is no more than 20 or so posts, I'll probably read the lot before replying.

What about the rest of you?

I usually read the first post then depending on how long it is, i read all the replies. If you dont though, you dont know what the hell is being said.

I tend to read all the posts in a new topic to keep up with whats going on (unless the topic has several hundred replies before I noice it)

I read the first reaction to the thread and of course the original message and the last messages at the end and dont go through the general clutter.
