I was wondering, I've got 256Mb RAM and a 64Mb Radeon 9200 Pro Gfx card. If I got 256 or 512Mb more RAM, would it make a big difference in the performance of my PC when it comes down to playing games like Call of Duty (bear in mind the Russian levels)?

Ta mortals.

You would have to get rid of those PC2100 sticks as they will be hindering your PC3200 stick, Ram runs to the speed of the lowest denominator.

I must have the worst RAM config ever. 2 sticks of 256MB PC2100, and a single stick of 256MB PC3200, which should be used to it's potential with a new CPU...

Yes, it does. But it can be a b*tch if you don't have matching sticks.

Very temperamental(sp?) stuff, RAM.

Real life example of how RAM increases speed:

I used to play Virtua Fighter PC on a machine with 8MB RAM and spent of the time waiting for the next stage to load...

I upgraded to 16MB and the whole game was loaded into RAM = No load times!!

RAM rocks!!

That's a pretty good analogy.

It depends on what you are running at the time.

RAM is basically set out like a spreadsheet, programs that you open store their information in the RAM and use it to retrieve information. Basically more RAM = more space to store this information, thus allowing increased performance (letting you open more applications at once etc).

RAM does give a good performance increase.
