I’m with MoJo on this one, got it after everyone said it was great, the thing is, I was rubbish at it, and hence hated it.
I couldn’t fly anything, it took ages to get anywhere, etc etc.

Moo.

I got the GOTY edition from PLay.com for about £7, and it's really good. Completely different to games like Halo and Unreal, because you have to use your brain! Some of it is really hard, but I find the vehicles really easy to use. There's a Falklands mod coming out soon, that lets you fly harriers and stuff. Apparently my mates brother is working on it!

I really enjoyed it, but it ran like a three legged dog on my old 500 Mhz P2.

Might see if I can get it cheap from somewhere.

From what I've heard, Operation Flashpoint 2 probably won't be released until 2005!!!

The original is great though, one of the finest tactical shooters I've ever played, online it's rubbish, just full of clans who like to pretend they're in the army by calling each other "Private" and "Captain", it is however, amusing to see these people chatter to each other but doesn't leave much of a fun online experience.

The goodness shines in a realistic portrayel of war where shooting at everything that moves with your full firepower will get you shot, meaning you have to use your brain. Course I can see how this can be pretty boring to most people, especially given the whole getting shot without having a kin clue what's going on, but that's what I enjoyed really. Realistic modern warfare, you're not superman and this game's going to tell you that and keep on telling until you listen.

There was always something great about lying on the edge of a forest with a pair of benoculars for half an hour before you feel confident enough to make a rush for the line of buildings 200m away, knowing that death could come at any time and that helicopter knew you were round there somewhere. And the squad battles were great too, half the time you felt useless because you can't even tell which direction the fire's coming from, so when you do finally get a kill it's so satisfying.

Helicopters were just great fun really, takes away the stealth element for a while and just puts you in a deathmatch styled battle. Keep moving and keep those bullets pouring out...

I just couldn't figure it out.

I tried to love it, really, I did. But as a grunt you die without ever seeing the enemy, and the vehicle controls were fiddly and annoying. The warthog? I could never get it off the ground, let alone fly somewhere and do the mission. The chopper? Same deal. Single missions? I *hate* single missions in games like this. Op Flash, MOH etc shouldn't have them. At all. They make a hard game harder by putting you by yourself with a gun with all the power of a water pistol against the entire red army.

Still, I never played it online. Maybe that's where it's goodness shines.
