UK HARDWARE FIGURES: PS2 SALES GO BALLISTIC
Sony's mind-bogglingly successful PS2 continues to wow the Great British public, with just under a staggering 97,000 units shifted for the week ending December 6 - that's up nearly 25 percent on the previous week.
With the exception of Nokia's N-Gage, which continues to underperform, all of the consoles enjoyed stable or increased sales. Ninty's GBA sold just over 6,500 units, which is pretty much in keeping with last week's figure. The GBA SP reached just over 38,000 units however, an increase of over 20 percent.
GameCube enjoyed a similar rise, selling just short of 19,000 units, while the Xbox climbed 16 percent to shift over 25,000 units. Sadly, the N-Gage struggles on, with ChartTrack's latest figures revealing the phone-console hybrid sold less than 250 units in the 6,000 accredited specialist games retailers, down 4 percent on last week's figures.
But it should be noted that these figures don't cover sales from mobile phone specialists like Carphone Warehouse.

Yeah - I know. How did 250 of the fools end up with an nGage?

Due to my EXPERT knowledge of the market I can safely predict that more PS2's than usual will sell in the lead up to Christmas. Seriously, trust me. The article even points out the 25% raise in the last week.
Further analysis of the market leads me to believe the sale of dying pine trees will sky rocket after a particularly poor year to date. Further, turkey and Christmas cards are also finding their way back into the public’s shopping baskets.

PRobably a bit harsh :P
But Nintendo's ammount is strangly pleasing.
Microsoft has shipped quite a few mind.

Yeah, I saw that and wondered where they're all going...

250?? I bet someone's going to get fired (if not already)

That's not going to make much difference though. They still don't have a chance at competing with the SP.
That just can't be right. If they'd sold at that rate since launch, pretty much ever man, woman and child would have bought at least 2 PS2s by now.
