The US gets the 'Cube and the XBox in another couple of months, correct? We get them in about 6 months. Which some people would think is a bad thing. But I don't think it is.
Right now, I don't know whether to buy a 'Cube or an XBox. They both appeal to me, they both have games I want to play. But, because they are released in the US first, thanks to the internet, I can get game reviews, news and info on which may be the best for me.
So come release day over here, I will know which one I want to get, and can buy the one that suits me best, without risking wasting £200+ (I know the 'Cube should be cheaper, but with a couple of games and stuff, it all adds up).
Also, we should have more launch titles as well. As all the games that are released in the first 6 months of the 'Cube and XBox lives, which will be a large number, as christmas is in there as well, should all be ready for release at launch over here.
So maybe it isn't all bad that we get stuff later then everyone else?
Or is it? What do you think?
> Why don't we get cheap broadband?
We do! NTL Broadband Cable - £24.99/month for always-on 512k access.
Stormin'! :-)
Isn't it, FM?
If it was released simultanously here and elsewhere (you know, places like that big country just across the Altantic), then if you wanted, you could wait the six months anyway - and as a bonus, you'd have reviews of the UK version to rely on, and a fair chance of a few price drops.
(It is the Atlantic, right?)
As for the bug fixing and such I don't really mind the wait, but it annoys me greatly that Ultima 9 was full of bugs on release in America and some time later was full of the exact same bugs when released here since nothing had been done about it. Things like that were no fixes are made when they could have been. Oh and why doesn't Fallout and Fallout 2 have children? This caused some bugs in parts of the game where you could start but not complete a quest. One with a kid down a well for example, I've even found where the kid should be because the dog goes and barks at him but since they removed children from the game all you can do is tell the parents that their son is dead. Seems strange that they would remove that since a happy ending would surely be better. It may have been the idea that you could kill the children but since you can kill all sorts of innocents what's the difference? You would also have to choose to kill children yourself since you are never forced to and killing innocent people wont get you far in the game anyway even if you are more evil than good (not that there are actual allignments).
Yet I'm afraid to say that I disagree. Why? Because I-AM-IMPATIENT!!!
I couldn't care less if we got less release titles than we could of done if we had it the console later, whatever console that might be! All I'd want is something new to play - because at the moment I couldn't be more bored with what I've got, thanks to the gaming industries lack of games (well - more thanks to the lack of money I have :()
I-CANNOT-WAIT-FOR-THE-GAMECUBE!!!!
Lets hope Australia have Gamecube earlier than us, eh?
The worst thing it, it's nothing to do with the PAL format.
Our Ausstrailian friends use PAL and they get stuff ages before us (and cheaper too!)
If they were released earlier here, you could still wait to make your decision, only have a more accurate one, having had the chance to play both machines.
It's a bad thing definately but one we'll just have to learn to put up with.
