Its good there is no game as otherwise the story would be spoilt etc. Runs nicely at 1600x1200 on a XP2800, 1Gb RAM and 9800 Pro. Never tried Doom 3 so wouldnt know. As you said its unoptimized so I am hopeful that I will be running Half Life 2 at a decent 40+ FPS at 1600x1200, at the moment it does 30 fps in action sequences and even 60-80 fps in other detailed parts of the world.

Thew version I have is, although I got it from someone who works in the industry. There are 3d exporters and other tools in it, so thats possibly where the space gets bumped up.

Ok, perhaps 1/2 an hour was a little bit of an exageration, but still, there is *no* game there, and the only map halfway playable is the beach level and even then the flying alien craft is static.

Still, runs nice and fast on my 1.8Ghz, and this is toatlly unoptimised.

Look on Emule, it's one of the rare files you'll get a decent transfer speed on, because so many people have it. Although chances are you'll get stuck in a queue 6000 people long when you've only got two megabytes to go. Like what's happening to me right now.

Or, ask someone who has it, and get them to give you a copy.

Its not that big, 1.4 GB, unpacks to just over 3 GB. Its more than half hours enjoyment to be honest, lots of things to try out etc. If you have broad band and can find it then why not, but if your on 56 K then dont.

Seriously, don't bother with it. Its about 4 - 5 GB worth of data to download, just to see a couple of maps that aren't finished.

Still, the half hours amusement I did get out of it makes me want the final product even more.
