iam starting to build a pc and ive got most parts for it, but now i've got to get a graphics card. I've narrowed it down to an ATI Radeon 9600xt but i don't know if i should get the 128mb or the 256 one? Is there a huge amount of difference?

Go for the 128mb version the 256 isnt really worth the money as the perfomance boost isnt really worth it.This time next year your radeon 9600xt will be worthless, so I would advise you to do what I did - get a cheap graphics cards in the meantime and wait for the kick ass graphics cards getting released next year in time for Half Life 2 and Doom.
Eg: I paid £68 for my Radeon 9600 and Ive over clocked it to Pro speeds...
