Since you all seem so intelligent here is a quick puzzle.

Move one digit in the following equation to make it true:

101-102=1

Snuggly's answer looks best.

I kind of like FM's, too. Very clever.

All seem better than the apparently 'correct' answer.

Anyone else have a good puzzle?

Mr Snuggly that can't be right. He said move a digit and the top of the = isn't a digit. That means my way earlier is the only way of doing it : )

101-102=1

Move the top bit of the equals symbol, so it looks like this.

101=102-1

Simple.

101-102=1 eh......

I think I've got it,and I'm putting into 2 easy steps, so here goes:

Step 1) How about you move the 0 in the first number to the end figure, this should make: 11-102=10

Step 2) You place an addition sign and the number 101 on the end of the sum and before the equals sign, this should make: 11-102+101=10

It is right! You didn't say we couldn't add anything onto it!!?!

No fair! You didn't say we could add or remove anything from the equation, only move something!

If the equation is written in base 3, then move the 2 from the second term to the left of the answer, so that:

101 - 102 = 1

becomes

101 - 10 = 21

Which in base 10 becomes

10 - 3 = 7

actually that is it !

DOH ! I'll have to post a harder one...
