Since you all seem so intelligent here is a quick puzzle.

Move one digit in the following equation to make it true:

101-102=1

what do you mean by move?
If you take the 1 on the right and add it to the 101 on the left you get 102-102=0 which is true but im not sure if by move you mean you can add or subtract.

No, if you move that one to the other side of the equation you get

101-102-1=

which doesn't make sense.

ok the only way i can get it to work is to raise the 2 in the 102 bit to a power.

101-10 ^2 =1 which gives 101-100=1 but im not sure if that counts

If the equation is written in base 3, then move the 2 from the second term to the left of the answer, so that:

101 - 102 = 1

becomes

101 - 10 = 21

Which in base 10 becomes

10 - 3 = 7

No fair! You didn't say we could add or remove anything from the equation, only move something!

101-102=1 eh......

I think I've got it,and I'm putting into 2 easy steps, so here goes:

Step 1) How about you move the 0 in the first number to the end figure, this should make: 11-102=10

Step 2) You place an addition sign and the number 101 on the end of the sum and before the equals sign, this should make: 11-102+101=10

It is right! You didn't say we couldn't add anything onto it!!?!

101-102=1

Move the top bit of the equals symbol, so it looks like this.

101=102-1

Simple.
