I don't have live (yes i am deprived)we have broadband. my dad won't let me get it because he recons that if i'm on live then he won't be able to use the net or the phone, is this what happens

No. If you have a router, you can connect your xbox straight to your router. This enables you to use the phone, and the net. However, you'll get some lag if you do use the net to download, whilst playing xbox live.

so how much is a router

between 40 and 100 quid

a basic one for about 40 squid

It can vary, depending on how many ports you have. I have 4. So I could have:

1) PC
2) XBOX
3) other PC
4) Gamecube/PS2

I'm not sure how much my router was, but I think it's between £60 - £120. That is an educated guess, so i'm not certain.

this also means you can link more than one PC to the broadband, aswell as your xbox
